Amie Hamaker is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in young adults and adults. She maintains a private practice in Dallas, Texas where she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients.

Among her areas of expertise are eating disorders, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, body image, social anxiety, self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and trauma.

Amie is an interactive, cognitive-behavioral therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Education

Amie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University and earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University where she completed the dual track for Professional Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.

Licensure and Certifications

Amie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas (license #70279) and is also a Certified Gottman Method: Level I couple’s counselor.

Professional Activities and Memberships

Amie is currently a member of the American Counseling Association as well as an active member of the local International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals DFW chapter.
